Power trowel vs hand trowel on colored concrete, I'm split
Poured a 600 sq ft slab in Tucson last month, used the power trowel for the first pass then switched to hand for the final burnish. The color came out splotchy in patches where the machine overlapped, but the hand sections looked uniform. I'm wondering if I should just skip the machine entirely on colored jobs or if my overlap technique was off. Anyone else run into this or have a method that works?

That color blotch on the overlap is a tough break, I feel for you. The heat in Tucson makes the timing window so tight that even a good machine pass can leave marks if the concrete starts setting uneven. Honestly, skipping the machine on colored work might save you the headache, but your overlap technique could also just need a slower, more consistent pass next time.
