PSA: I switched from a bull float to a magnesium hand float for small garage slabs

Did a 20x24 garage slab in Austin last month and decided to try the magnesium float instead of my usual bull float. The finish came out way smoother and I had way less surface tearing. It took longer but the homeowner texted me a photo a week later saying it cured perfectly. Anyone else find the magnesium float worth the extra elbow grease on smaller pours?

Stick with the magnesium float on anything under 30 feet... I learned that lesson the hard way after fighting with a bull float on a 18x20 and ending up with drag marks I had to fix with a grinder. The key is keeping the float just barely damp so it glides without sticking or tearing.

Damp is the whole secret.
