Rented a power trowel blind, cost me 3 days of finish time
Rented a used power trowel from a local yard for $150/day and it ran rough, left chatter marks all over a garage slab in Boise. Had to grind and redo the surface, which ate up 3 days and another $200 in blades. Anyone else swear by checking the rotor bearing before you leave the lot?

Been there man, learned the hard way that a cheap rental can turn a one day pour into a week long nightmare. My first time running one I was so clueless I just grabbed the handles and went to town, didnt even think to check if the thing was set up right. Halfway across the slab it started bouncing like a lawnmower with a bent blade and I stood there thinking that was just how they worked. Ended up with a floor that looked like a golf course and a yard guy who swore up and down it was fine when it left. Now I do a quick spin of the rotor and check for play before I even sign the paperwork. Saves me a lot of grief and blade money.
