The 2004 driveway vs the 2024 driveway across the street

Same house plan, same 4-inch slab, but the old one has one crack after 20 winters and the new one is spalling already. Builder switched to a different aggregate source around 2018 and I swear the issue is the fines content, anyone else seeing this with certain quarries?

We poured 40 yards from the old quarry back in 05. Still looks good. The new place down the road used the 2020 mix. Cracking by year two. Same finisher too. It's the fines, plain and simple.
