Tried a 6 bag mix in the heat last Friday and it set up on me in 20 minutes
I had a small sidewalk pour over in Tucson last Friday, only about 60 feet, and I decided to try a 6 bag mix instead of my usual 5 bag to get a faster finish. Well the temp hit 104 by 10am and that mix started kicking way faster than I planned. I barely got my edger around before it was too stiff to work, and I ended up with a rough joint line I had to grind out the next day. Called my old foreman and he just laughed and said 6 bag in that heat is asking for trouble unless you got ice or a retarder in it. I lost maybe 3 hours redoing that edge and learned I should've just stayed with my normal mix and waited for a cooler morning. Anyone here run a 6 bag in triple digit heat and actually make it work? Curious what you add to slow it down.
