Watched an old finisher in Tulsa float a slab before the bleed water left and I've been doing it backwards
I was on a 4,000 sq ft warehouse floor in Tulsa two weeks ago and this guy named Ray, been finishing 30 plus years, started floating while the surface still had that sheen on it. I always waited for the bleed water to go away first, that's what the old crew taught me, and I'd lost at least 3 slabs to crusting because of it. Ray told me flat out 'you're floating too late, the cream's already set up on you.' We watched his float pull a perfect finish with no tearing and no extra water worked in. I tried it on a small driveway pour in Broken Arrow that Friday and the finish came out way tighter with zero delamination. Now I want to know who else floats early, or am I about to get yelled at by half this board?
