PSA: the moon landing flag thing is not the proof you think it is
Every single time I get dragged into a moon landing argument at a family cookout in Ohio, someone brings up the waving flag and acts like that settles it. Here is the part nobody bothers to check. The flag was on a horizontal rod across the top because there is no wind up there, and the reason it looks like it is moving is that the astronauts were twisting the pole into the dirt. The ripples you see are from the fabric being wrinkled from being folded up in a cramped lander for four days. I have watched the same 30 seconds of footage maybe 50 times and the flag actually stops moving once they let go of the pole. Nobody mentions that because it kills the fun. What gets me is that the flag is the worst piece of evidence on either side, and both sides keep yelling about it. If you actually want to argue about this, ask me about the shadows instead. Has anyone else noticed the flag clip is the one thing that never comes up with any real follow through?
