Tried a 2 week social media blackout on my alias account, the signal to noise flip was wild
I run a few burner accounts to track how certain narratives spread, mostly for fun and to spot coordinated posting patterns. Two weeks ago I decided to go completely dark on one account, no likes, no comments, no follows, just watching. I expected the usual bots and repeaters to dominate but instead the quality of engagement from actual people went way up. Strangers started questioning the same weak sources I'd been flagging for months. It made me wonder how much of the noise we see is just us feeding the algorithm. Has anyone else tried stepping back from interacting to see what the raw feed actually looks like without your own input?
