Tried a cheap laser level for a fence line, hated it, now I use it daily

I picked up a $35 laser level at a big box store for a fence job outside Phoenix, figured it would be a waste but I needed a straight line quick. First day it was finicky, hard to see in the sun, and I almost tossed it in the truck. Then I started using it indoors for baseboards and drop ceilings, and man, it nailed every mark fast. Now I keep it in the trailer for rough layout work while my expensive rotary stays home, that cheap thing does 80% of what I need. Has anyone else found a budget tool they swore off at first that ended up being a daily go-to?
