Why do so many subs still nail baseboard to the studs instead of the drywall
I've been doing trim in Charlotte for 11 years and I keep seeing guys shoot 16 gauge nails straight into studs on baseboard, then wonder why they get wavy lines on a 40 foot wall. Wood moves, drywall doesn't, so nailing to the plate lets the trim slide and stay flat. I switched to nailing into the bottom plate and top of the drywall 3 years ago and my callbacks for gaps dropped to almost zero. Anybody else get pushback from builders who think it looks loose?
