Overheard a sparky say torque sticks are a gimmick, now I own a set

Was on a commercial job in Phoenix last month and heard an electrician tell his apprentice that torque sticks for impact drivers are just a sales pitch. I always thought they were overkill too, but then he explained he got a call back on a panel where lug nuts were too loose, arcing melted the busbar. That $80 set paid for itself on the next 20 connections I did, checked half with a manual wrench and every single one hit spec. Anyone else have a tool they mocked until a real failure story convinced them otherwise?
