PSA: I thought a laser level on a remodel was a gimmick until I actually tried one
I dogged a guy on my crew for spending $180 on a Bosch laser level two years ago, then borrowed it for a bathroom tile job in Cleveland and had all four walls dead plumb in half the time. My old 4 foot spirit level is still in the bag but it's not the first thing I grab anymore. What's the one tool you swore off and then had to eat crow on?

Ha, I love this! Eating crow is basically a job requirement in this trade, right? I gave a buddy so much grief over his fancy laser measure, told him a tape never lied, then he used it to find a wall that was out of square by almost an inch and saved us a whole redo. I felt about two feet tall on that one, not gonna lie. It stings to admit you were wrong, but the guy was right and the job went smoother because of it. We still give each other a hard time about stuff, but now I keep my mouth shut until I've actually tried the thing.
