Serious question, does anyone still cut stair stringers by hand or is it all calculator apps now?
I used to lay out every stringer with a framing square and a set of stair gauges, took me about 40 minutes per run and I was proud of it. Then a carpenter named Dale on a job in Boise showed me a stair app on his phone and I had the whole layout in 6 minutes. Part of me feels like I'm cheating and losing a skill, but part of me just wants to finish the run before lunch. Where do you all land on this?

Ha, I'd still be standing there squinting at my framing square while the app guy is already nailing off. Honestly my phone has more stair sense than I do at this point.
