Hot take: I stopped doing full foil highlights and started doing babylights, and my clients in Phoenix noticed the difference in a week
I used to be die hard about full foil highlights for anyone who wanted dimension, and I did them that way for about 6 years. Then a client named Dana who sits in my chair every 8 weeks came in with a picture from a stylist in Phoenix and I told her it would cost her $220 for the full foil and she said go for it. About a week later she came back to show me the grow out and I could see the lines starting already at her part, and she was nice about it but I could tell she was bummed. So I switched her to babylights at her next visit, thinner slices, way more foils, and it took me an extra 40 minutes. Whole different look. The grow out was soft for like 3 months instead of 4 weeks, and she started referring her friends to me. Now I book an extra half hour for these and I charge $250 and nobody blinks. I was so wrong about full foils being the fastest way to a bright look for everyone, it really depends on how fast their hair grows. Anybody else switch over to babylights and have clients fight you on the extra time?
