My color correction on a box dye job took 11 hours over three visits, and I should have charged triple
A client came in with jet black box dye from 8 months ago wanting to go platinum, and after two rounds of bleach and a color remover that barely lifted anything, I finally got her to a level 8 blonde on the third visit, so now I want to know: how many of you are turning down these box dye corrections upfront instead of trying to be a hero like I did?
Wondering what made you take her in the first place, because that is the real question here. Did she show you a picture of what she wanted and you thought ok maybe I can get there, or did you already know from looking at her hair that the black was sitting on 8 months of buildup? I ask because the clients who lie about their history are one thing, but the ones who are upfront about box dye from almost a year ago are basically telling you the truth and you still said yes. So was it a money thing, a slow week, or do you just hate saying no? And once you realized after the first bleach round that it was barely budging, what kept you going instead of stopping and telling her this is a multiple appointment situation with no promise of platinum? Genuinely asking because that part is what I want to understand, not the pricing.
