Can we talk about open office noise in coworking spaces, because I think most of us are wrong about it
Six months ago I moved my insurance paperwork job out of my apartment and into a coworking spot on Division Street in Portland. First few weeks I was annoyed by every phone call and keyboard click around me. Then I started bringing cheap foam earplugs, and the strange part is my focus got worse. Turns out the total quiet made me jump at every little sound instead of tuning it out. This one guy who runs a design shop a few desks over keeps a small fan going, and I copied him. The steady hum covers the random stuff way better than silence ever did. Most people in my building keep asking to move to the back quiet room, and I think that is the wrong fix. Anyone else try a fan or a noise machine at their desk instead of chasing a silent corner?
