Overheard a scary lease conversation at the coffee shop in Austin
Was grabbing a latte before heading to my shared desk spot and two guys next to me were talking about their coworking lease. One said he signed a 12 month deal without reading the auto-renewal clause and now he's stuck paying $450 a month for a space he stopped using in March. The other guy nodded like it was normal and mentioned his building added a cleaning fee of $75 weekly that wasn't in the original paperwork. I checked my own agreement that night and sure enough there was a 60 day notice trap hiding on page 14. Has anyone else gotten burned by hidden fees or renewal rules in a coworking contract, and what did you do about it?
