A retired operator in Gary told me to stop fighting the swing, and my loads quit bouncing
Two years ago a guy with 30 years in the seat watched me jerk a 12 ton load around and said just let the boom trail a hair behind the trolley. Tried it the next shift and the bounce was gone, now I do it on every pick over 8 tons. Any of you run it that way or do you keep the boom dead square?

I get why that trick works for you but trailing the boom is not something I would teach a new guy. You lose your swing control when the boom is not square and that bounce can come back way worse on a windy day up high. Keeping it dead square takes more work but the load stays predictable every time.
