Question about the hand signals I was using on a tilt-up job in Phoenix
Last month a guy on the ground crew pulled me aside and said my stop signal looked too much like my lower signal when I was swinging a panel, and he had to wave off a load twice because of it. I always thought the standard signals were clear enough, but he was right once I watched the video, so now I hold my hand flat and up higher on stops. How do you all keep your signals clean when you are working fast?

My first foreman used to make us practice hand signals at the yard before he would let us on a real pick. Felt stupid at the time, grown men standing around waving at nobody. But he said the same thing your guy did, that a sloppy signal is how people get hurt. I still catch myself drifting back to old habits when I get moving too fast though. The higher flat hand thing works, once it is muscle memory you stop thinking about it.
