Two factor auth finally clicked after a 2AM wake up call

I got a notification on my phone at 2AM that someone tried to log into my email from a city I have never visited. I always thought 2FA was overkill for a regular person like me, but that alert made me set up an authenticator app on all my accounts. Has anyone else had that moment where a near miss made them change their whole setup?

and honestly i used to be the same way, thought 2FA was for people with like secret government files or something. but after i got that same 2AM panic alert about a login from some random state, i spent the next hour putting that app on everything. my phone died halfway through and i nearly had a heart attack thinking i'd lose access to my own accounts. now i'm that annoying person who gets weird when you ask to borrow their phone cause the auth codes are all over it. better paranoid than getting hacked at 3AM i guess.
