Found out a rush fee on a Friday job is worth more than my whole Saturday
So I was poking around an old freelance rate survey from 2023 and it said rush jobs should cost 25 to 50 percent more, which I always shrugged off. Last Friday a guy in Tacoma called at 4pm needing a thing done by Monday morning, and I quoted him 40 percent over my normal rate just to see what would happen. He said yes in about ten seconds. Now I'm sitting here wondering how many other jobs I basically gave away for free. Anyone else figure out their panic rate the hard way, or do you just eat the crunch and hope for a tip?
