Warning: Hit 17 deadline changes in 90 days and it finally broke my brain
I started tracking deadline changes in a little notebook back in March because I felt like I was losing my mind. Turns out I wasn't crazy. In 90 days I logged 17 changes, and 11 of them came with less than 48 hours of notice. The worst one was a Thursday night email at 9pm asking if Friday noon was doable for a project I had until Monday on. Has anyone else tried logging these? I want to know if 17 in 90 days is normal or if I just attract chaos.
The notebook thing works but only if you also write down what the change cost you, like hours reworked or weekend time lost. That turns it from a vent list into evidence you can actually show a boss or client. On the "is 17 normal" question, hard to say without knowing your field, but the 11 with under 48 hours notice is the real problem, not the total. Anything under 48 hours is a planning failure on their end, so start replying with what it pushes and what it costs before you say yes to Friday noon.
