Am I the only one who quit hunting for coffee shop wifi and just uses hostel desks now?
Two years back in Chiang Mai I would walk 20 minutes to a cafe just to test if the wifi could handle a video call, and half the time it dropped anyway. Now I pay about $14 a night for a hostel with a real desk and fiber, and I get more done before lunch than I used to in a whole day. The thing that pushed me over was a Zoom demo in Lisbon where the cafe router died right as the client asked a question. Booking a room with a desk costs a little more, but losing that client would have cost me way more. Does anyone else pick places based on the desk instead of the city?
