The week I worked from a surf town and got zero work done
I tried the whole beach office thing in Sayulita for 5 days and honestly it was amazing for my mental health but my client inbox turned into a disaster zone. I get why people romanticize it, but is the tradeoff actually worth it when you're paying for a cowork space just to stare at the waves? Has anyone else had a trip that was either a total reset or a total dumpster fire, and what made it tip one way?

The dumpster fire part hit me right in the gut. I did the same thing in Costa Rica and my boss called me "strategically unavailable" which is corporate speak for "we know you're at the beach." Spent 40 bucks a day on a cowork space and still ended up answering emails with salt water crusted on my laptop. Honestly though, my anxiety levels dropped so hard I almost didn't care about the missed deadlines. It only works if you treat it like a vacation with a few work hours tacked on, not the other way around.
