Spent 6 hours fighting a floating deck corner before I figured out my string line was the problem
I was building a 12x16 floating deck in my backyard last weekend and could NOT get the corners square, kept re-cutting rim joists and re-measuring the diagonals over and over. Turned out my string line was sagging just enough to throw off every measurement by about a half inch, so I switched to a chalk line and had it dead square in 20 minutes. Has anyone else gotten wrecked by a saggy string line or am I the only one who trusted it way too long?
