Watched a guy at the Columbus tool swap nearly lose a finger on a used table saw, so I check every blade now
I was at the tool swap in Columbus last weekend, walking past a guy selling a used table saw for $120. He fired it up to show a buyer it ran, and the blade wobbled bad, maybe a quarter inch of play, and it grabbed a scrap 2x4 out of his hand and threw it about 15 feet. Nobody got hurt, but his hand was inches from the blade and he just laughed it off. I asked when he last checked the arbor and he said never, he bought it that way at an auction. I walked away and later ordered a dial indicator and a new blade guard for my own saw, cost me $60 total. Now I check arbor runout on any used saw before I even plug it in. Anyone else got a story from a swap meet that made you change how you inspect used gear?
