Caulk failure under my bathroom sink, what a mess

I redid the bead around the sink base 4 months ago, used the cheap acrylic stuff from the hardware store. Noticed a gap last week, thought it was just dust. Pulled the drawer out and found water damage on the particle board underneath, the caulk had shrunk and cracked. Should have spent the extra $6 on silicone, lesson learned. Anyone else had acrylic fail on them or is it just me?
