Learned the hard way that old homes in my area used 2 wire cloth wiring, not grounded
Pulled the cover off a bedroom outlet during a rewire in Rochester last month and found cloth wrapped wire with no ground at all, which I guess was standard here into the 1950s. Wound up adding a $40 GFCI per circuit to be safe, but it made me rethink every outlet I've swapped without checking first. Has anyone else hit this and how did you handle grounding the rest of the house?
