I finally printed a full set at 1:1 in the garage and my whole check process fell apart
Was laying out a small shop addition last month in Toledo and sent the set to the plotter at 1:1 instead of scale, mostly to save a trip to the office. Turns out sheet A3 had my wall type tags floating a half inch off the wall line and the GC caught it before framing, said "which one do I trust, the line or the tag?" I spent that whole evening redoing layers instead of checking dimensions, and now I can't decide if full size plotting is worth the paper or if it just makes me lazy on my own drawings. Do you guys print full size to catch stuff or is that a crutch?
Man, I read a thread on the JLC forums a while back where a guy swore by 1:1 plots for exactly this reason, said his eye catches tag offsets way faster at full size. But another guy pointed out that it only works if you trust the plot setup itself, otherwise you're just training yourself to ignore scale. Sounds like your A3 sheet is a plot config issue, not a drafting one, and a half inch off is a lot for a real tag error. Maybe check the paper size settings before you ditch the big prints?
