That curved stairwell took me 2 full days instead of 4 hours
Last month I got a job in a 1920s house in Portland with this swooping curved wall over the stairs. I figured I'd just snap a few boards and flex them in, but the radius changed partway down, so every cut was a custom fit. Took me two days of measuring, cutting, and recutting before I finally built a simple template out of 1/4 inch plywood, and even then I had to wet the board to get it to bend without cracking. My crew kept joking I was building a ship hull instead of a wall. Has anyone else run into a radius that fights back like that, and what was your trick to get it done faster?
