Why does nobody talk about how bad corner bead can mess up your mudding
I spent 6 hours last Tuesday fixing a corner bead job that should have taken me 40 minutes. The bead was popping off the drywall because the framing behind it was out of plumb by almost half an inch on a bathroom remodel in Tucson. I kept adding mud and sanding, adding mud and sanding, and it still looked like a wave. Finally I ripped the whole piece off and shimmed the stud, and it went on clean in 15 minutes. I should have checked plumb before I even touched the bead, not after. Now I always run a level on the framing first. Anyone else get burned by skipping that step, or is it just me.
