The old tech at the shop on 5th told me to reflow the HDMI port on a PS5 and I told him he was nuts
I brought in a PS5 with no display output and the 70 year old guy who runs the bench next to mine said just hit the HDMI pins with hot air before you order a new port. I figured he was stuck in 2008 and ordered the $12 port anyway, which sat in my drawer for a week while I got busy with other jobs. Finally got fed up, grabbed my Quick 861DW, flowed the pins at 400C for about 30 seconds, and the console booted to the menu on the first try. Saved myself the reball and the customer picked it up the next day happy. Now I'm wondering how many ports I've swapped over the years that just had a cold joint, has anyone else had this work long term or does it come back?
