Rebuilt a 3300 door operator with the OEM kit vs a generic one, and the difference was in my hand at 6 months
Pulled a 3300 door operator last year on a high rise downtown and the customer wanted it cheap, so I tried a generic rebuild kit instead of the OEM one I usually use. Kit ran me $180 versus $340 for the OEM, and at first it felt fine on the bench. Six months later the door started short-cycling on the close, and when I pulled it back apart the roller track had worn a visible flat spot. The OEM kit went back in and it's been smooth for 14 months now. I think the generic rollers are a softer compound, but I haven't cut one open to check. Anybody got a brand of aftermarket rollers that actually holds up past a year, or am I stuck paying OEM prices forever?
