Cold email scripts seemed gimmicky until a 7% reply rate

I spent 3 years thinking those fancy cold email templates were just word salad for sales bros. Then I tested a simple one I found here on a batch of 200 prospects in Cleveland, swapped the subject line to something boring, and got 14 replies in 5 days. That 7% number beat my old 1% average by a mile, so now I read every template thread in this group before writing anything. Anyone else had a template they hated that ended up working when you stripped it down?
