Warning: floating a hoof wall crack with a rasp burr before the shoe goes on
Had a horse on a 6-week cycle with a toe crack that kept splitting right under the nail line, so last Wednesday I took a fine rasp burr and made a shallow groove across the top of the crack before nailing up, and it has held for 5 shoeings straight now, has anyone else tried grooving the wall above the crack instead of just chasing it down lower?
