The fabric district in LA got me thinking about my first sewing machine
I wandered through the garment district near Santee Alley last weekend and it felt completely different from when I started out there in 2009. Back then I was hunting for bargain zippers and interfacing for a single prom dress, now half those little shops are gone or turned into showrooms. It made me wonder, how do you all find the balance between sticking with old reliable suppliers and chasing the new fast fashion trends? Has anyone else noticed their go-to spots shifting that much over the years?

Huh, I gotta say I see it the opposite way. The old spots that survived are the ones worth keeping, and they're busier than ever now that the trendy places come and go so fast. Maybe I'm just stubborn, but I'd rather drive an extra ten minutes to the shop that's been there twenty years than chase whatever's hot this week.
