That air hammer rental looked great on paper, total disappointment

I rented a pneumatic post driver for a 300 foot run of privacy fence outside Columbus, thinking it would save my back... the compressor kept tripping the breaker every 15 minutes and I finished with a manual driver anyways. Three trips to the rental yard and a bunch of wasted daylight later, I'm wondering if anyone else has had better luck with air rigs or if I should just bite the bullet on a hydraulic unit from a bigger supplier. What's your go to setup for rocky ground like this?
