Thought adjustable post hinges were a gimmick till I tried em on a 6 foot cedar gate in Tacoma
I used to tell guys that adjustable hinges were a waste of money and that a solid weld and a level post was all you needed. Then last spring I hung a 6 foot cedar gate on a slope in Tacoma and the latch would not line up no matter how many times I shimmed it. Anyone else go from hating these things to keeping a pair in the truck?

Man, I gotta disagree with you on this one. Half the gates I hang are on old posts that have moved a little over the years, and no amount of shimming fixes a post that's out of plumb. Adjustable hinges let me line up the latch on a sagging gate in like ten minutes instead of rebuilding the whole post. Had one on a cedar gate up in Puyallup that was dragging so bad you could not even close it, and the adjustables fixed it right up. Sounds like you just had a bad post and good hinges saved your butt.
