Thought penny nails were fine for shoe molding until a guy in Tulsa showed me why they're not
He pulled up a baseboard I'd nailed 2 months back and every single nail had rusted and let go. What are you all using instead, 15 gauge finish nails or something else?
So that guy in Tulsa basically saved you from a slow motion disaster, huh? Two months is nothing, give it a year and your whole house would've been doing the wave every time you walked past. Penny nails and shoe molding go together about as well as a screen door on a submarine. I switched over to 15 gauge finish nails a while back and haven't looked back, they hold way better and don't give up the ghost after one humid summer. Guess the cheap route just means you get to do the job twice, and the second time with more swearing.
