Big foundry in Pittsburgh had me questioning our safety setup

I visited a big automated foundry in Pittsburgh last month for a tour and honestly I was kind of jealous of their ventilation system. They had these massive downdraft tables that pulled all the fume right down as they poured. Meanwhile at my shop we still use those old ceiling fans and hope for the best. It got me thinking about whether spending like $8,000 on a downdraft setup is actually worth it or if we're fine with what we got. The foreman there told me they cut their respiratory issues by half since installing it three years ago. But my buddy argues that proper masks do the same job for way cheaper. Tbh I'm torn on this one. Has anyone here made the switch to a downdraft table and noticed a real difference in air quality?

Man that's a tough call, those savings sound legit though.

Wait, are you really sure those savings are legit though? A lot of those "too good to be true" deals end up being some kind of bait and switch or you get stuck in a contract you can't get out of.

I mean idk if I'd totally trust those savings being legit without really digging into it. Like a lot of those places bait you with a low rate and then slap you with fees or jack up the price after a few months. I'd check the fine print for early termination stuff before jumping in.
