Heard a client at a cafe say they 'don't need a contract, it's just a handshake deal' for a $5k project

The other person just nodded and said 'sounds good.' I almost choked on my coffee. What's the most casual way you've seen someone walk into a major freelance problem?

What, like a handshake is gonna pay your rent? I've seen people skip paperwork for a logo, but five grand is a whole new level of trust.

Ever seen someone skip a contract for a job that big?

Honestly depends on the person and the job. Some folks just don't care about formal stuff. Tbh it probably happens more than people admit.
