Just wasted $200 on a 'must-have' finance course for freelancers
Saw an ad for this online course promising to 'revolutionize' how I handle my books. Bought it on impulse thinking it would save me time. The videos were just basic stuff I already knew from free blogs, and the 'exclusive' spreadsheet template was broken. I feel so dumb for not checking reviews first. What's a real resource that's actually helped you guys get better with money stuff?

Yeah I gotta respectfully disagree with the free IRS templates thing, @johnson.nora. Those are fine for basic stuff but in my experience you miss a ton of deductions if you don't have someone actually walk you through what applies to your specific freelance work. Take this with a grain of salt but I'd rather spend $200 on a single CPA visit than any course or software.

What's a real resource? My own expensive mistakes.

Ever tried just talking to a small business accountant for an hour? I paid for fancy software for years, but a one time consult showed me three forms I was filling out for no reason. What kind of mistakes are we talking about, tax stuff or something else?

Honestly, I just use the free templates from the IRS website for my quarterly stuff.
