Struggled with rust removal but a buddy's offhand comment saved the day

Had this antique shotgun covered in surface rust, and nothing I tried was working. My friend who does woodworking mentioned using vinegar for rust on tools. Gave it a shot on a small spot, and it came right off. Now I use it all the time for light rust jobs. Saved me hours of scrubbing and cash on special products.

It's funny how the best fixes are often the simple, cheap things already in your house. @the_river knows the pain of buying some fancy solution that just gathers dust. I've seen it with wood glue working better than "professional" fillers or baking soda clearing a drain. Makes you wonder why we ever buy the special stuff.

My overpriced "special products" are crying in the cabinet right now.

Honestly my buddy bought this fancy lotion that turned weird and separated after like two months. Felt so bad for him, @the_river. Total waste of cash just sitting there.
