In my view, that mistake cost us loyal fans and growth.

Point out that sometimes you need to run with your gut early on. Constant feedback can water down a good idea. Build a base first, then adjust.

A marketing blog last year pointed out that brands lose about 20% of potential repeat customers when they ignore feedback early on. @cameron956, I see what you mean about strong ideas, but that data shows it's risky. The blog used the example of a tech company that pushed a new layout without asking users, and their engagement dropped by half in a month. So even with a solid plan, skipping feedback can hurt growth more than we think.

Was ignoring feedback always a mistake for social media? Sometimes early plans need to try things without too much outside input. It might not always cost loyal fans if the main idea is strong.

Yeah but that's the thing, even a strong idea can miss the mark if you don't check it with real people. You might build something based on a gut feeling that turns out to be totally off. Getting feedback early is how you catch those blind spots before you waste time and money. It's not about letting users design everything, it's about making sure your good idea actually solves a problem they have. Skipping that step just seems like an unnecessary gamble.
