Pro tip: Ditch the rolling chair for a yoga ball after 3 days of back pain

Honestly, I was at my desk last Thursday and my lower back was just screaming at me after like 4 hours of sitting. I had one of those cheap mesh chairs from Amazon and it felt like sitting on a rock. Then my buddy Jake who works from home in Austin said he uses a yoga ball half the time. I rolled my eyes at first but tried his out when I visited him last weekend. After bouncing on it for 30 minutes I realized my posture was way better and my back didn't ache. Pretty sure it's about engaging your core or something but it just works. Has anyone else tried mixing a ball with a regular chair for part of the day?

7 months in and I gotta warn people about something nobody talks about. I started bouncing on a 55cm ball about 3 hours a day at my standing desk setup. Worked great for my back but around week 3 my knees started clicking and popping when I stood up. Physical therapist told me it was from the constant micro adjustments the ball forces your hips and knees to make. Now I only do 45 minute sessions max and switch back to my chair. @henryr45 I think Jake's ball probably works fine for short visits but full time use is a different animal. Also the thing slowly deflates over a few months so you end up sitting lower and lower without realizing it. Keep an eye on that if you go full ball mode.

Jake actually let you sit on his yoga ball?
