inPro tip: watching a barge unload in New Orleans changed how I handle my suction lines
Honestly, what gets me is the noise. A bad clog means running that jet forever, and the high-pitched whine just grates on you after a while. It's not just about the wait, it's about the whole shop having to shout over it. A quick fix with the jet is great, but preventing the big clog in the first place saves your ears, too. A little regular maintenance keeps things quiet and moving.

inWarning: A stripped bolt on a Cessna 172's cowling latch almost ruined my Friday
A week seems like a long time to wait for a stuck bolt. Is it really seized that bad? Penetrating oil and a torch usually gets most things moving. Drilling should be the absolute last resort, not the first step after a soak.

inMy 10-year-old nephew asked me why I only collect superhero comics now
Watchmen is just grim for the sake of it. Sometimes you just want a hero who saves the day.

inTIL the difference between asking 'what's the best way to do X' and 'I tried A and B for X, why did B fail?' is huge.
Oh man, that "I tried A and B" question is the golden ticket! It shows you actually put in the work and got your hands dirty, not just fishing for someone else to do all the thinking. The first question is like asking someone to build you a whole treehouse from scratch. The second one is like saying "hey, I built the platform but my ladder keeps wobbling, can you spot the loose nail?" Huge, huge difference.

inI always thought legacy games were a waste of money until my group played Charterstone
Oh man, same exact thing happened with my group and Pandemic Legacy. We all rolled our eyes at the idea of wrecking a board game. Now we've got that messed up, sticker-covered board framed in our friend's basement. It's a trophy. Felt so wrong to rip up those cards, but by October we were all yelling about it. Totally gets its hooks in you.
