How many bus bars have you actually seen fail from an impact though?

inHad a client in Austin tell me my contract was too "aggressive" because I had a kill fee clause
Used to think kill fees were kinda paranoid or something. Realized real quick that's just how you learn after getting screwed over. That client's reaction says more about her than you. She's comfortable taking advantage of people who don't protect themselves. Lost $4,200 myself once and never again. Now I call it a "professional protection" clause and it filters out the bad clients fast.

inTIL a written scope of work saves your behind when a client claims they asked for "more detail"
I get where you're coming from but I'm not totally sold that a scope of work is always the silver bullet people make it out to be. I've had clients sign off on a detailed scope and then still come back saying "I assumed you would include this" even though it was clearly not listed. The problem is that clients often don't read what they sign, and they can get pushy after the fact no matter how specific you were. So I think a scope helps, but it's not a magic shield. It mostly just gives you something to point at when things get messy.

inCaught myself using the wrong side of a speed square for years
Used to think the speed square was just a fancy triangle for marking 90s, but seeing how easy angled cuts get with the right edge changed my mind completely. Neighbor probably saved me from a lifetime of fighting miters with that one tip. Hard to believe a tool can do so much more when you just flip it around.
