Saw the Paris Fashion Week collections online and felt like I was missing something

Yeah that's a tough spot they're in. It's like the quiet craftsmanship gets overshadowed by the loud stuff that grabs headlines. I feel for those studios because they're carrying on real traditions and the payoff is so much less flashy. But at the same time, you can't really blame people for getting excited about the wild runway pieces since that's what gets shoved in our faces constantly. It just sucks that the people doing the actual painstaking work have to fight twice as hard for any kind of recognition.

That $60 Bundt pan I bought is collecting dust now

$60 is nothing for good bakeware that'll last years if you hand wash it.

Got into a debate about audiobooks vs physical books at my book club last month

Yeah, totally agree with you and @angelamurphy about people just wanting to feel superior. I had a guy at my old book club tell me listening to The Hobbit audiobook was "lazy" and I was like, does the narrator doing all the voices make it less valid? I actually remember more details from audiobooks now because I can focus on the story without my eyes getting tired.

Pro tip: that client who said 'check is in the mail' 3 weeks ago still hasn't paid

Drive over there in person. Show up during a slow time like 2pm on a Tuesday, not during dinner rush. Walk in with a friendly wave, ask for the owner or manager by name, and just say you wanted to pick up the check since it's been sitting on their desk. Being face to face makes it way harder to ignore you than ghosting a text. Bring an invoice printed out with you just in case they claim they "lost" it or need the details again. If they try to brush you off again, ask if they can cut a check right now while you wait, or if a partial payment via card is possible instead. Most small business owners will fold when you're standing right there looking them in the eye.
