inMy neighbor's comment about his sourdough starter made me check my own...
My grandma used to call that gray stuff "hooch" and said it meant the starter was hungry, not dead. She'd just pour most of it off and give it a good feed with rye flour.

inJust realized my old way of running wire in attics was a huge fire risk
Ever see that with old thermostat wire? Found a whole nest of it buried in cellulose last year. We started using those plastic standoff clips, they're cheap and you can just press them onto a joist. Works way better than trying to strap it down tight.

inAn old timer in a Pittsburgh yard told me to always tap the flange twice before the final weld.
My grandpa had a rule about tapping his pipe three times before lighting it. It's the same kind of rhythm that gets into your hands and makes the work feel solid. Those little habits build the muscle memory for a clean job.

inMy steamer gave up mid-facial yesterday, so I had to get creative with hot towels and a kettle.
Remember you can't just crank those motors by hand, the gears are locked when the power's off. Had to learn that the hard way too. You need the manual release lever, usually a red knob under the headrest. Takes a bit of force but it'll get you through the appointment.

inSerious question, glue-down vs. stretch-in for commercial spaces
That 60% failure rate is wild... but honestly I've seen some truly terrible stretch-in jobs where corners pop up after a month. My go-to is still stretch-in for offices because you can swap a damaged tile without tearing up the whole area. The trick is finding an installer who actually knows how to use a power stretcher, not just kick it around the edges. I'd rather pay a bit more for a crew that does it right than deal with glue-down seams lifting later.
