inPSA: My Therm-a-Rest pad lost half its R-value after 2 years of use
Oh man, YES. I had the exact same thing happen with my XTherm. I bought mine in 2021 for winter camping in the Sierra and the first year it was like sleeping on a cloud of warmth. Now after like 30-40 nights I can totally feel the cold seeping through from the ground. It's wild how fast it dropped off. I actually measured mine with a simple test using a heat lamp and a thermometer and it felt like half as warm as it used to be. I'm honestly pretty bummed because for the price you'd think it would last longer than that.

inPSA: Taking a "real" lunch break saved my productivity for real
Wait, you sat on a bench in an Austin park for a full hour with no phone? That's wild. I can't even sit through a red light without checking my phone. But then again, I've been eating at my desk for fifteen years and I'm always half dead by 3pm. Maybe you're onto something.

inThree years of using FreshBooks and I still think QuickBooks is a scam for freelancers
Man I spent that accountant fee on beer to cope with QuickBooks rage.

inI skip the door dwell adjustment on most MRL jobs and it works fine
Man, I've been there. The closer springs wearing uneven is a dead giveaway you're fighting the door operator's natural curve. I had a similar headache on a Thyssen MRL in Austin where the fire marshal started timing everything after a test failure. What worked for me was going into the controller and adding a slight delay on the final inch of travel instead of just messing with the dwell. That way the closer springs don't get hammered by the sudden stop. @emma_lee22, if those Otis units were using gear end switches I bet that's why the springs went uneven, because the switches are way more sensitive to timing changes than a controller-based adjustment.

inMy HVLP gun just died mid clear coat on a $4500 job
Oh boy, here we go again with the scheduled maintenance panic. I guess I'll just set a calendar reminder right next to my "change the smoke detector batteries" alarm. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for staying ahead of problems, but replacing a part before it even shows any sign of wear seems a bit much. Unless you're running a competition gun with thousands of rounds through it, I think most folks will be fine checking it once a year or so. But hey, if it makes you sleep better at night, knock yourself out.
